In response to popular demand, Aguilar is proud to introduce a new version of the OBP-3 onboard preamp. Since we already have an OBP-1 and an OBP-3...and this preamp features two bands of boost and cut.....we had to name it the OBP-2! The OBP-2 uses the same basic circuitry as the legendary OBP-3. However, it is designed to be used in a bass with a two, three or four knob layout. The OBP-2 features treble and bass controls with center detents for boost and cut. The circuit can be used with only one 9 volt battery, or with two for 18 volt operation. The OBP-2 can be purchased in two different kits, the OBP-2SK, which includes one center-dented concentric 50K linear tone pot, or the OBP-2TK, which includes two 50K pots, one for treble and one for bass.
Some possible applications are installing the OBP-2 in a P-bass style instrument, using the concentric tone pot, or installing in a Warwick or similar layout bass with two tone pots.
